About the Project

Bomber Command VR is a doctoral research project investigating how immersive virtual reality can support the teaching and learning of history. The project focuses on Australia’s involvement in Royal Air Force Bomber Command during the Second World War, a significant yet often overlooked aspect of Australian history. Through the development of historically informed virtual environments, the research explores how immersive technologies can enhance student engagement, historical understanding, and perspective-taking.

Research Focus

This research examines how immersive virtual reality can be designed and implemented to support secondary history education. Using a design-based research methodology, immersive learning modules are being developed and evaluated to explore their effectiveness and ethical implications. The project aims to contribute to both history education and the broader understanding of immersive technologies in learning.

Project Status

This research project is currently in development. Further information, immersive experiences and educational resources will be made available as the project progresses.
